Title: Words of Wisdom by Kelly Clarkson
Post by: jbseth on December 31, 2018, 06:07:17 PM
Hi All,

I recently saw this video of an interview with Kelly Clarkson. Many of the things that she has to say, are very "Seth" based, although I'm guessing she's probably never heard of Seth.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm9ujgcOh3w

At around 2:25 into the video, she starts talking about her career and she says, "You have to dream big. You have to believe yourself there."  Then at about 3:10 she says, "You have to know you can get there, you have to dream it, in order to achieve it."

Wow. Sounds kind of like Seth in NOPR telling us how we create our reality.

Given how well she's done with her career, I'd say that she really gets this concept.

At around 6:00 into the video, she talks about her experiences growing up in her family. She mentioned that in growing up in that environment, she learned how to handle various issues and just shrug then off. Then she says, "I'm actually thankful for that environment."; thus indicating that this has helped her deal with some of the tough and rude comments that are made by people in the music industry.

Then a little later she talks about her poor relationship with her father. At around 6:50 she says, "If someone presents such a cancerous environment,  ..., you should just not have that person in your life. And it's OK. It's not a hateful situation, you just go your own way."

Wow. I'm impressed.

Wow, what a positive and well adjusted person (at least that's what it seems like to me). Well spoken, open, a great attitude. She seems very well equipped to deal with the ups and downs in life. Words of wisdom from unexpected places. Thanks for that!

For a while I was wowed by Jim Carrey's seemingly deep spirituality wisdom. But the past couple of years he's been using his popularity as an actor to spread his political views, which instantly turned me off. Not just him, I feel any public (nonpolitical) figure who grandstands their views because they have an audience is taking advantage of their fans and in a way an abuse of power.

To me when someone who can say something like this:

"We are not the avatars we create. We are not the pictures on the film stock. We are the light that shines through. All else is smoke and mirrors."

and then Tweet hateful messages about people who don't share his political views, it tells me he's not as spiritually advanced as I thought he was. "Only human."

"...I can tell you that the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is. Because everything you gain in life will rot and fall apart, and all that will be left of you is what was in your heart. "

I thought this was really nice. He's still on the journey.

Hi Deb,

Wow, thanks for sharing that Jim Carrey video. I'm guessing that it was Alan Watts who was speaking in the background and who was very spiritual, and perhaps coming from a Buddhist way of thinking???

I think that Jim is probably like me and many of us here. Sometimes, when I get centered, I come up with some really profound comments. I even amaze myself sometimes; wow, did I really say that, that was good.  Then other times, when I'm into my ego mind, I say some pretty stupid things that aren't exactly well thought out or spiritual.

It's a challenge for me to always try to remain centered and come from that deeply spiritual side, all the time, but at least for me, that's the real goal. I find for me regularly reading Seth helps. :)

I don't necessarily follow the words of any major sports star, or musician or actor. Just because they are famous, doesn't necessarily mean that they are wise or well adjusted.  On the other hand, just because they are famous doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't wise or well adjusted either.

In addition to this, sometimes, famous people really do have some very important things to tell us. Like what's happening with the "Me  Too" movement and the abuses of power that have occurred in various industries and the calling to attention of this issue and these people who have abused their positions.

Thanks for your post Deb.
