Over the last two days I've proofread the transcripts of Mary's Peg Gallagher interview. Peg was a close friend of Jane ever since they met at the Arnot Art Gallery where Jane had worked. Peg's husband was Bill, and they are mentioned often in the books. The interview was very enjoyable—Peg was a very mentally sharp and well spoken person. She and her husband are now deceased—like many of the people Mary interviewed. Timing is everything.

One of the things that tickled me was Peg talking about Jane's poem, "dialogues of the soul and mortal self in time." Peg wasn't aware that Jane had produced a book with that title! I actually have a copy but hadn't read it yet. It was printed in 1975 and Rob made a lot of great pen & ink illustrations for it. This book is clever and a real gem.

The things Peg mentioned are in the first part of the book. Although I've never been a person that appreciated poetry (Peg also said about herself), I just love it! The book is the mortal self talking to the soul and the soul's responses. What I appreciate the most about it is Jane's sarcasm from the mortal perspective, "it's easy for you to speak." Who hasn't felt that way? Good to know that we are no different than Jane.

The book also contains dialogues about the "paper dancing in the wind" experience Jane described in one of the books (can't find which right now), Rooney's death, a squirrel and other things. I'm reading it right now and enjoying it very much. I can't help but think Jane and Rob had a lot of fun creating this. Thanks Peg!

It struck me that Peg talked in the interview about wanting to write a biography of Jane. Rob talked of writing one himself, (Through My Eyes), as did Jane, (From This Rich Bed). She did get it mostly done. Of course Sue Watkins wrote Speaking of Jane Roberts. One author, lots of biographies!

Here is the the first "dialogue," in a spoiler, nice and tidy.
