I try to watch the Albert Finney Scrooge version every Christmas. We all probably know the story, how Scrooge is forced to look back on his life with ever deepening regret as time and again he witnesses himself choosing money over those that love him. He is ecstatic with relief and gratitude when given a second chance at life and his glee is palpable. I think it's very important that Scrooge is an old man with probably not many years left, this emphasizes that it is never too late to choose a different set of beliefs.

Wow, great points! It's been so long since I've seen or thought about that movie, that it never crossed my mind. I probably haven't seen it since I started reading Seth, so I'd probably get a different take on the wonderful messages behind the story.
