QuoteRecording of Dave Elman teaching a class of physicians in the arts of  hypnotherapy in 1960. In this clip he is working with a patient of one of the physicians, suffering of severe migraines.

EDIT:
QuoteWhen he was eight years old, Dave saw his father wracked with the pain of terminal cancer. A famous stage hypnotist learned of the situation, and came to visit. In just a few minutes of hypnotic treatment the moaning and groaning was silenced and the pain was relieved. Little Dave was permitted to visit and play with his Dad. Dave Elman never forgot that his father was given relief by a stage hypnotist after the doctors had said there was no way to relieve his suffering.
Although I don't always write it explicitly, it should be inferred that everything I post is "my belief", "my opinion" on that subject, at that moment.

Is that incompetence, or worse (lack of human decency)?

It is what we've seen over and over, and over the covid pandemic it was wide-spread; not only among the medical establishment, but among politicians, and many other people who had any power (employers, school boards, college boards, ...)

Power corrupts! There it is where we have to make an urgent change.

If we only had a ... Constitution!

====================
EDIT:

My three-year-old niece doesn't care about Constitution, and it isn't her fault that adults often let her be in charge.

My neighbors' dogs don't care about the Constitution and about my right to the pursuit of happiness either, and it isn't their fault if they're let to freely express their nature.

My mother-in-law's Alzheimer wiped out of her mind any thoughts about the Constitution, and I can't hold that against her.

I love them all, some of them very much. So, "lack of love" isn't the problem, and the solution to some of my inconveniences isn't "love", nor "more love". "Lack of compassion" isn't the problem either.

It seems that the problem is the lack of common-sense among the adults who let be in charge those unable to be.

If I understand all these, why do I keep adhering to a probable reality that inconveniences me, and that upsets my sense of right and wrong? It seems that that's why I am here, to learn to deal with it (adversity), not through anger or hate (emotionally, instinctually), but by mastering and adequately using my intuition, intellect, emotions, instincts, by exercising my free-will, and surely a common-sense. Being aware of the situation is a necessary first step. :)

  • In the AZ Glorieux hospital in Ronse you can now be operated on under hypnosis. It is a doctor who performs the hypnosis and as a patient you can choose whether you will be operated under general anesthesia or under hypnosis, in combination with local anaesthetic. The hypnosis would cause fewer side effects.

We let the patient's subconscious come up and suppress the conscious sensation. The patient is therefore not aware of what is happening in the operating room," says Dr. Harald Verschueren. "We will of course first administer a local anesthetic, so that the patient does not feel it when we cut into the skin, for example."

The hypnosis is performed by a medical specialist, the hospital does not work with a separate hypnotist. Verschueren: "In addition to my training as a doctor, specializing in anaesthesia, I also followed a training course in hypnosis."

"It's not hypnosis like you see on TV. For example, the well-known hypnotist Messmer makes an entire room fall asleep, I don't do that. I just speak to the patient for fifteen or twenty minutes."

Fewer side effects
With a full anaesthetic, there are many side effects after the operation. "But you don't have to process it after a procedure under hypnosis. After such a procedure you can in principle immediately walk home," says Dr. Harald Verschueren.

Fright
"You certainly don't have to be afraid," the doctor assures. "The hypnosis cannot suddenly 'fall out' in the middle of an operation. When you are in hypnosis, you can only be distracted if there is suddenly loud noise, for example loud music. But such a thing absolutely does not happen, because the entire operating theater is aware of hypnosis and takes that into account."

Actually the patient is aware, he just doesn't feel the pain, and he might get amnesia. Again, under hypnosis he'll recall everything that happened in the room during the operation.

I think it's that most doctors had blinders put on when they were in medical school. They are taught to not think outside the box. Do things the way they were taught in school. "The science is fixed." The ones that think outside the box are ridiculed and banished. Once in a while a creative one will succeed, but it's an uphill battle. And Big Pharma has its greedy hands in medical schools and continuing education. Hard to imagine them ever condoning things like hypnosis, natural remedies or the idea that our beliefs affect our health.

It always comes back to that. I have to constantly monitor and adjust my thoughts and attitudes. And it's is why I take regular breaks from the news. It's always focused on what's wrong... that's what sells, people seem to have a morbid fascination with what's wrong. It's probably related to our survival instincts--awareness of any potential danger. Unfortunately humans see too may things as a threat.

"The rational approach, as it is now used, carries a basic assumption that anything that is wrong will get worse."
—TMA Session Three August 13, 1980

I have to get out in nature on a regular basis. Breathe the fresh air, pay attention to the beauty around me. Focus on what's right. And sure, hug a tree.  ;D
