Do you suppose that extends to the rest of us? There are times when I catch myself asking Seth or Jane or Mary for help and then mentally slap myself for not turning to my inner wisdom or entity first.
It must be a side effect of having been raised Catholic and taught not to go directly to the "source." Comedian Kathleen Madigan does a great job of explaining it in her comedy special "Bothering Jesus." Here's a clip (BTW she's hysterical and it's worth watching her full shows).

I believe that everyone has their own inner-guide who's qualified to assist their personality at its current level of evolvement and needs. Your inner-guide assists you even if you aren't aware of that when awake.
I also believe that if one wants to contact another guide or entity, they might be able to do that, provided that they are evolved enough, their beliefs allow it, they diligently train for it.
Seth might not be a better guide for you than the one that currently assists you. Ruburt and Mary might not even be guides (?). Still, if you liked to contact them, I'm sure that you could.
I believe that we can't contact our entities, or our inner-selves, as we are them, just in a different state of consciousness. It is like you can't contact the you-character from your own dream.

The only time I try to link to Mary is when I can't find something I'm looking for in her materials. Interestingly enough, it seems to work. But I do follow my inner guidance for everything else. Unless I'm at my wits end. Sometimes I can use a little help from my friends. ;D
