Duration of sleep by Seth

"Persons vary in the amount of sleep they need, and no pill will ever allow them to
dispense with sleep entirely, for too much work is done in that state. However, this
could be done far more effectively with two, rather than one, sleep periods of lesser
duration.
Two periods of three hours apiece would be quite sufficient for most people, if the
proper suggestions were given before sleep - suggestions that would insure the body's
complete recuperation.
...
The conscious self would recall more of its dream adventures
as a matter of course, and gradually these would be added to the totality of experience
as the ego thinks of it.
...
The seeming great division
between the waking and the sleeping self is largely a result of the division in function,
the two being largely separated - a block of time being allotted to the one, and a larger
block of time to the other. They are kept apart, then, because of your use of time".

CHAPTER 8
SLEEP, DREAMS, AND CONSCIOUSNESS

Has anyone tried this mode of sleep?

I tried this mode. Dreams became more vivid and memorable. Maybe it's also because I read from Seth that in dreams we still live, and a more conscious life, just do not remember it. After that, my subconscious attitude to dreams, as just a supplement to reality, has changed.

I haven't deliberately tried this sleep pattern yet, it's kind of difficult with work, family, etc. but I will have the opportunity to try it out in a couple of weeks. I have trouble sleeping as it is, often waking up at 3 am and then it takes a couple of hours for me to get back to sleep (if at all). So maybe I'm already there. I definitely have more vivid dreams if I can get back to sleep, and much better dream recall. And even if I only get an extra hour of sleep, I usually feel very refreshed. More so than if I'd slept through the night, without waking.

It has been pushed to later and later and later for years now. My last cycle was putting me to sleep at 7 or 8 in the morning. With a nap later on.

I also often wake up at night. I thought it was better to sleep all night. But then dreams are lost. I read that after 5 hours of sleep, dreams are bright, because the body has rested enough. That is, if you sleep in a row, then from 12 to 5 you do not remember anything, but if you sleep further to 7-8, then you get only one dream per night. By the method of Seth you can sleep more in a day, then the body, as he writes, more rest. And then the body manage to excrete toxins. And an additional sleep should not last 5 hours and can be already dedicated to awareness.

Thank you, I did not find this topic before.

Ok, thanks!

Earlier I could not sleep in the daytime. It's light in Lithuania in the summer until midnight, and it's already starting to grow lighter from 2 o'clock in the morning . When I moved to Lithuania, at first I could not get enough sleep and constantly feel very tired in the summer. The light prevented me from falling asleep. Then I accidentally bought a mask for sleep and was able to sleep properly. Now I sleep only in the mask, day and night.

Deb

Wow, 2 am, even now? You are on par with Moscow?
Much farther north than where I am on the globe. I'm glad you found the sleep mask.

I understand the summer/tired situation. I am "solar activated" also. When I lived in Florida I got little rest. If the sun is up, so am I.

Colorado is not much different.

No, in the middle of summer only . In the middle of winter, on the contrary, sun rises at about 9 am, at 4 pm it's getting dark. Now the sun rises at about 7 am, sits at 7 pm.

Yes.
