"The development of your I and identity is strengthened and developed as you help others. You help others through your work. This I is not threatened when you help others. It is threatened when you think that it is threatened."

"When you help others in your own way, you help and reinforce the self."

I often feel some of Seth's key tenets are not made clear that they are key at all. But clearly these messages are fundamental. I of course want to help myself, I want my I to be as robust and powerful as possible, I want to be as self possessed as possible - guess what I can achieve this by helping others. It makes me feel how utterly perfectly the universe is designed.

I agree! And I think the only things Seth kept repeating, with vigor, are you make your own reality and you get what you focus upon. Those are, I think, the most fundamental truths he shared. People get different things from the materials at different times... they get what they need and can understand at the moment and those become their fundamentals. A-hah moments.

Laurel put this up on FB a few days ago, from class transcript dated 10/6/70. I don't know whether it is published or not, I haven't checked, but I think Seth has mentioned his word-crafting at least a couple of times elsewhere. He embedded information within the words he used in the materials that will convey a deeper meaning and understanding. I also thought his use of the word "gateway" was interesting since recently Monroe's Gateway Experience has come up in a couple of other posts here.

Quote from: SethNow I have written the material, using rather crafty methods, in that there are keys, within the material, within the words, that I have chosen that open up intuitions if you allow them to. Certain words that I have used, in other words, are like gateways and if your are receptive as you read the words you will enter the gateways and the gateways will leave you to your own intuitional understanding.

Although I don't always write it explicitly, it should be inferred that everything I post is "my belief", "my opinion" on that subject, at that moment.

I read somewhere that any collect of text or images sufficiently large and information dense can be used as an oracle or divination tool. You could then ask a question of the books. Pick up a book at random and open a page at random, place a finger at random and you should get something pertaining to your question. Sometimes I've been stuck on a problem and picked up a book from the pile and opened it at random and started reading basically the solution to my problem.

I also find this to work with the internet, beyond directly searching for answers. Such as, an answer to a different and unrelated question I'm not even currently looking for will pop up. Or with the Seth stuff, a quote I can't find will show up in a Facebook Seth group thread. Or one of the Groups will start talking about something we're discussing here. Of course that last bit could be explained by someone on Facebook being a lurker here.

And yes, it happens with books too.
