I do feel we all need to put our brains together and solve some of the bigger issues
No need to transport drinking water 3000 miles. We drink our own well water filtered and chlorinated. Perhaps the chlorination is not essential, but we do hear of a few cases of typhoid.
I am writing this under the influence of a small amount of Scotch whisky.

Ha ha, I loved Andy Rooney, he used to be my favorite part of 60 minutes. Great point of his comparing the price of water to gasoline. I do happen to filter my water, our tap water contains fluoride, chlorine, supposedly recycled birth control and other medications, giardia and tastes like dirty potatoes. Well water is supposed to be the best, but who needs chlorine when you have scotch? :)

I made a new "Seth on" topic the other day, started with my favorite Seth quote on Christmas, as it has lost any meaning for me over the years as well.

One of the reasons, Joseph, for your own lack of festive spirit in the past has been the result of your realization that this gap between idealism and action is great.

I made the mistake of trying to get some shopping done the other day, had to go to 3 different locations and all the roads were heavy with traffic, stores had long lines, some shelves in the grocery store were empty! Everyone was going in their own direction. I agree, we could really make some progress if we all put as much energy into problem solving as we do with holiday madness. It's a high energy season, let's pool our resources!
