Hi All,

The other day while rummaging around in some of my Seth books, I came across the following quote from Seth in TES2, Session 81:

"Prayer has been extremely successful in enabling individuals to manipulate matter through use of their psychic abilities."

The entire concept of "prayer" use to really turn me off, big time, as I've always associated it with religion, Christianity and the Bible.

However, along with this, I'm also aware that there are many people who claim that prayer actually works.  In fact, I've heard of several studies that have demonstrated this.

I never really thought about taking a look to see what Seth has to say about "prayer".

After checking this out recently, using the search engine, I've discovered that Seth does talk about this topic.  In addition to this, it appears that perhaps Jane and Robs opinion about prayer changed over time as in some of their later books, example: "The Way Toward Health",  it appears that they said prayers, in regards to Jane's health issues.

Anyway, below I've listed several interesting things that Seth had to say about prayer from Session 81.

After thinking about this, I've come to believe that prayer actually has quite a lot in common with "reality creation".

TES2: Session 81, August 26, 1964

[... 33 paragraphs ...]

Prayer has been extremely successful in enabling individuals to manipulate matter through use of their psychic abilities.

[... 21 paragraphs ...]

Now. Prayer once enabled the intelligent man to focus his psychic abilities, because the hard fact, taken for granted by all in Western civilization, was the belief in such a God. The so-called hard fact has changed.

[... 18 paragraphs ...]

I am not going to keep you much longer. Nor have I any intentions of starting a new religion. I am, however, trying to tell you the truth, and this material is perhaps the most important of any so far, in that comprehension of it will allow the intelligent man to avail himself of energies and abilities once utilized in prayer.

Prayer is now shunned. Why pray if there is no one to listen?

[... 1 paragraph ...]

The prayer contains within it its own answer, and if there is no white-haired, kind old Father God to hear, then there is instead the initial and ever-expanding energy that forms everything that is, and of which every human being is a part.

Yep, I know exactly what you mean.

It's only recently that I've started seeing prayer as a sort of meditation (thanks to Seth), in that it's a good way to turn off the noise of the outer senses and focus on specific goals. A form of self-hypnosis? Anyway, in that sense I can see how it would help people use their psychic abilities to manipulate matter.

This last sentence from your quote above, "The prayer contains within it its own answer, and if there is no white-haired, kind old Father God to hear, then there is instead the initial and ever-expanding energy that forms everything that is, and of which every human being is a part" is great in that Seth points out that prayers reach a grander realm than some old white haired guy sitting on a throne in heaven. :)

It has been said that prayer is speaking to God, while meditation is listening to God. They both involve an altered state that facilitates connection with All That Is. Gregg Braden, a very readable author of books compatible with Sethian concepts, wrote the book, Secrets of the Lost Mode of Prayer. In the most memorable anecdote, he describes an event in which three Asian healers are with a woman who has a cancerous tumor. The tumor is imaged on a sonogram. The healers are chanting a phrase, translated as "Already healed, already healed...". The tumor gradually shrinks as they are chanting. Thus intense visualization of a reality that one wants as if it is already so is a prayerful method of reality creation.
