~Speaking of Seth~

Gordon Phinn was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and now lives in Canada. He claims to have had numerous out-of-body experiences during which he met a number of guides, particularly one named "Henry". His ideas seem to be consistent with those of Seth. He refers to our "True Energetic Self", corresponding to the Entity mentioned by Seth:

"What is the game in the physical universe?
We are part of a much bigger sentient being, called our True Energetic Self (Oversoul/Higher Self) that sends smaller soul aspects as "probes" to incarnate as many different species (or form factors) at many frequency levels in the physical universe."

Thanks Sena, it's always nice to find people who fit in with the Seth stuff. In looking at his bio, I see he does mention having read Seth, along with a few others. Yikes, that orange type on green background on his website is really offensive and hard to read!

He had me going until I got to this on his Dialogue page, talking about his first two books:

"Both books chronicle my out-of-body experiences in the various non-physical planes, some of which contain the many communities of the dead, that is the French dead, the Chinese dead, the materialist rationalist dead, the ultra feminist dead, the Buddhist dead, the war dead, and so on and so on. I found out there's every kind of dead you can imagine, including the very religious dead who figured they'd be the only ones there and are sometimes quite put out when you saunter up and say hello, how's it goin' there dude?

"There's hellrealms, purgatories, and paradises of all kinds. And, as you'll find out if you read them, huge swaths of blissful radiant light that are a kind of heaven beyond all heavens, where bodies, buildings, landscapes and cultures just melt away into a light that's actually composed of knowledge/wisdom/understanding, all wrapped in a couldn't- care-less kind of ecstasy that feels like a multi-dimensional smile. In my braver moods I call it "the god consciousness"."

I don't picture a segregated Framework 2, let alone hell and purgatory! His description sounds like what we have on Earth!

His book on Jesus and The Christ is what made me wonder if he was a Seth reader. I'm curious what's in it. Reading his synopsis on Amazon, he talks more about Maitreya than Jesus. He says he channels both. I could be wrong, but from what I can tell he's saying Maitreya is maybe like the oversoul of the Jesus personality, but it's a little confusing to me. I'm wondering how he compares to Seth's philosophy and Robert Monroe's OOBE experiences.

Jbseth, thanks for your request. I am currently reading one of Phinn's books "Confronting Your Immortality". I have not finished reading it, and these are my preliminary impressions. On a basic question like "What is the meaning and purpose of human life?", Phinn seems to be in agreement with Seth. This is from the book:

"After many years of seeking, finding, and seeking again, 'Gordon' has come to the conclusion, perhaps partial, that the meaning of life, at least on this planet, is to gain as many types of experience as is possible in the varied societies and epochs of our evolution, and seed that experience as sub-conscious wisdom in the psyche, to be employed in assessing and completing the ever more complex challenges of incarnation.  Concepts, emotional states, thought patterns, belief systems: all are incorporated in the gradual accumulation of experience data.  And when those data banks are full, incarnation is no longer necessary, unless one chooses the bodhisattva option of aiding others to move toward  their eventual enlightenment. Does knowing the meaning of life enhance one's experience of it?  It would seem so, though the gradual unfoldment of understanding which occurs to the seeker and disciple, adding stone by stone to the castle of wisdom until the mason is satisfied that The Work is complete, is so infinitesimally slow that the shifting balance between ignorance and knowing, suffering and bliss, can be tough to assess at any one point." Where Phinn differs from Seth is in his reliance on theosophists like Alice Bailey. The theosophists refer to "Ascended Masters". My understanding of Phinn's view is that Christ, Jesus, and Maitreya are Ascended Masters and close associates. Christ and Jesus are not the same person, but close associates. Phinn claims to channel these Ascended Masters. This may seem like a grandiose idea, but his view is that the Masters wish to come through as many voices as possible rather than elite groups like the biblical prophets:

"After such provocative and all-encompassing thoughts, you might well ask what 'Gordon', while channeling, might profitably add.  'I' asked the same question of Maitreya.  He answered that he wished to come through as many voices as possible, so that the notion that only special, elite groups and humans might speak for him might be quashed.   He wanted to come through any and all who loved him and wished to serve his message." That Gordon Phinn information sounds pretty thought provoking.

While for me, the Seth information, seems to be probably the most clear and distortion free information about many topics, I also recognize that there are also many other teachers/speakers of wisdom and truth.
