~Speaking of Seth~

I may have had flying dreams as a child, but I have no clear recollection. I had a flying dream last night. At first I was flying effortlessly, but then I started experiencing the fear of falling and woke up.

This is Seth on flying dreams:

I suspect that I had some flying dreams as a child, but unfortunately I don't recall any with any certainty. As an adult, I've definitely had some flying dreams, had maybe 8 or 10 or so in the last 40 years.

I'm not sure why, but I seem to have a better recall of my flying dreams, than any other. Perhaps because they have been very impactful.

I have noticed that in these flying dreams, whenever I'm flying, (and not worrying about falling) I'm usually extremely joyful, happy and excited. It's an awesome feeling. I sometimes wonder if the whole point of having the experience of "flying" is just really a symbolic representation of this awesome feeling of extreme joy.

In your dream last night, before you started to experience the fear of falling, do you remember how you felt when you were flying?

I used to have flying dreams a lot, not as much any more, but mine were not effortless. I'd have to "work" at getting off the ground and staying aloft, more like swimming through the air. The weird thing is that when dreaming I just take it for granted that I can fly and never question it. It's just another mode of transportation. I don't recall flying very high either, maybe about 5' off the ground, so never worried about falling.

I used to dream about being in elevators a lot too, I wonder if that's related? Years ago I worked in a high rise office building, on the 47th floor, so did spend a lot of time on elevators at one point in my life, but the dreams don't feel related to that.

Another repetitive dream I've had all my life is needing to make a phone call and having a problem either with phones or having a hard time finding a phone. Back in the "old" days it would be a problem dialing a number correctly, but my dream phone equipment updates with the technology of the time. Now I dream about having problems with my iPhone, usually that some sort of malware has hijacked my phone and I can't get to the phone screen.

I think a dream interpreter would have a lot of fun analyzing my dreams.

jbseth, thanks for sharing your experience. I think what Seth is saying is that a flying dream is NOT symbolic of anything. How I understand it is that flying is a the natural experience on the inner self when it is freed from the confines of the physical body,

jbseth, I felt fine until I started doubting my being able to fly.

I don't remember feeling any type of emotion when flying in dreams (such as freedom, joy or fear), it seemed just as natural as walking or running. But for some reason I felt the need to fly, despite that it required more effort than walking.
