Deciding to be born in physical reality

One of Seth's key teachings is that every individual makea a decision to be born in a particular place to particular parents. This decision is made in asociation with the "Entity".

"There are unlimited varieties of experience open to you after death, all possible, but some less probable than others, according to your development. Very generally now, there are three main areas, though exceptions and extraordinary cases can take other roads. You may decide upon another reincarnation. You may decide to focus instead upon your past life, using it as the stuff of new experience, as mentioned previously creating variations of events as you have known them, making corrections as you choose. Or you may enter another system of probability entirely; and this is quite apart from a reincarnational existence. You will be leaving all thoughts of continuity of time behind you in such a case." (from "Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul (A Seth Book)" by Jane Roberts)

I came across in a book I am reading what seems to be independent confirmation of Seth's teaching. It is in the memories of a person named Elton Turner, uncovered by hypnosis, as related in a book written by Elton's now-deceased wife Karla Turner.

These are extracts from Karla's book:

""They got me ready to be born. They're excited. I'm watching what they make. I feel like I'm watching them make me. I feel like they wanted me to be born, like I was their thing there with them before I was, with somebody. They're workers, they're not makers. And I'm watching them work. And after I was born, they watched, and they came, and they took me back there again.""

""What happens after that?" Barbara asked. "It's like instead of watching," he replied, "I'm inside." "Inside of what? Can you give me a description?" "I'm inside of Mother," Elton said."

""Feels like I'm making the decision myself," Elton responded. "I make the decisions. It's time. My feeling is that it's a difficult decision to make, but that, knowing I really change, knowing I will not be myself, that I elected to do it. I wish to be... solid. To feel more than just inside, to feel outside, too, to feel the outside world, to have it affect me. And so I made the decision to be born." "Were there any instructors," Barbara probed, "any others above you who gave you a choice to be born? Who gauged this movement for you?" "An agreement," he told her, "just an agreement." "And who did you make the agreement with?'' "I'm getting into an area that's almost incomprehensible, without sounding strange," he admitted. "But it's like, there is reason, there is purpose, and I have to do it and want to do it, and it's time to do it, and I can, and I go." When pressed about the worker beings he'd watched, Elton said that they were in effect carrying out instructions from a higher authority. "There was another source," he explained, "and we all know that the source is the instrument of this. They are under the control of that Old One. The Old One makes the thought, and they 'do.' The Old One sees, and they see." Barbara asked, then, if Elton considered the Old One to be synonymous with the ultimate Creator, and he said no. "The Old One is an instrument, a vessel that contains the wisdom and the art and the mind and the knowledge and the experience. And knows its future and knows its past, and it's sad and not sad, and happy and not happy."" The "Old One" in Karla's book seems to correspond to the Entity as described by Seth.

Great topic, something that comes up quite often in my life whether personally (what did I need to learn from my childhood and parents, my life now?), Facebook, here of course, other writers especially those dealing with NDEs, survival of the personality, etc.

That extract from her book about Elton getting ready to be born was really interesting and also felt familiar, as if I've read something similar before. Maybe Seth, maybe Brian Weiss or Michael Newton.  I can't keep them straight any more. Was Elton under hypnosis when he was talking about the decision to be born? The book is about alien abductions, was his story related to that in any way?

This quote really caught my attention. I'm currently working on another book for Rich Kendall. One section of the book contains what he calls his "doodles"—various sketches he's created over the years, most of the time on cut up manila file folders, with colorful ball point pens. They are incredibly creative and I've been really enjoying working on this part of the project. He includes a sort of short anecdote with each drawing, his impressions. One of them is entitled "We Watch" and it really stuck in my mind. When I read the excerpt you included with your post, it reminded me of that doodle. BTW the green line down the middle will not be printed, it's just there so the gutter is visible for now. Let me know if the text is hard to see, I can always put it in a spoiler.

The Old One certainly does sound like an entity/oversoul. I followed the link to Dr. Turner on Noufors, it says she was threatened because of her work and then died of cancer. Do you have any idea WHO threatened her? I'll continue checking the other links because I'm curious because the page also indicated she was not alone in being threatened, and then getting cancer.

Deb, it is not clear to me who threatened her. There is a 3-hour video on Youtube which I haven't watched yet:

Yes, he was under hypnosis when he revealed this. The story is related to alien abductions according to the beliefs of Elton and her husband. What I wonder is whether they were mistaken in their assumption. Were these "people" Elton's counterparts and NOT aliens at all?

Thanks for the YouTube link. Actually almost 4 hours long! I was not able to get the volume to work for some reason, but did find a website that has more information about Karla and related things. Here are two links from the site, one offering free downloads of her books and the other some audio. The right side of the pages has even more links.

I also read about the Bartholic killings, interesting stuff.

That feels right to me. But maybe even the "guides" Seth talks about, rather than counterparts.
